Yesterday in “Affiliate Online Programs – How to choose the right one ~ Part 1” we looked at the different ways affiliate online programs can be interpreted and what some of the considerations should be as well as the costs. Today we look at how some company’s will try to get your money for internet marketing programs that make BIG claims but often fail to deliver.
Phone Contact
Some companies who sell or promote affiliate online programs will collect your personal details from “opt in” forms on their website sales pages offering easy to follow internet marketing programs or courses that have the potential to make you rich beyond your wildest dreams. One of the tactics they use is to call your home or cell phone. They usually get your phone number from the “opt in” form. These phone calls seem innocent enough in the beginning but these salesmen are skilled in the art of high pressure sales techniques. They build a rapport with you when and then slowly gain your confidence, all the while trying to gain your commitment into their affiliate online program.
Beware the salesman who calls repeatedly, brings in other salesmen on the call, or who tries to gain your personal information. The personal information they will be trying to get may include your financial situation, your availability to credit (like credit cards and how much credit is on them), if you have children, places you would like to vacation to and items you would like to own. The skilled salesman can be easily coerce this type of information out of you and then keep it to be used against you.
Be Aware of the HARD SELL!
These high pressure sales techniques include the use of guilt tactics, fear and frustration techniques. They are all designed to bring you back to agreement or commitment if you begin to waver or doubt. To illustrate this they may say something like “But I thought you said that you need to replace your car and wanted take your children on a vacation to Hawaii, you can’t do that unless you commit to make things better, enroll in our program, implement what our program teaches and get rich”.
The cruel irony is that in reality, it could be the ongoing costs of that affiliate online program that may be the main reason that prevents the purchase of a new car or realization of a fun family vacation. Remember that these pushy salesmen are also known as “silver tongued devils” for good reason and are very good at what they do. Also keep in mind that they will likely get a large commission for signing you up and will say almost anything to finalize the deal.
Tomorrow we will look at some positive points and positive ways to learn internet marketing and gain a top class online education free from hype, high pressure salesmen or huge costs. We will also look at the questions you need to ask when considering signing up for an online affiliate online program.
Affiliate Online Programs can be interpreted in a couple of different ways. The first and perhaps the most obvious is where you become an affiliate for a company who provides a product and by selling that product you gain a commission which is a percentage of the sale. The second way an affiliate online program can be interpreted is a program or course which is designed as an educational program to teach you how to become a successful affiliate. Some successful affiliates can earn many thousands every month and some “Super Affiliates” can earn in excess of $150,000.00 per month.
A very important factor to weigh up is the cost when considering enrolling in an affiliate online program. It is crucial to ask how much money is expected from the start date, that is, the amount you are expected to pay before any part of the program or course is delivered. Many affiliate online programs expect you to pay thousands of dollars before you start or have the chance to see if this internet marketing course is right for you. Beware the company that expects you to take it on faith that they have what you are looking for. Make sure you have the chance to look the course over thoroughly before committing to it or to them. Many company’s selling internet marketing or affiliate online programs may also make unrealistic claims about your potential to earn money now and into the future based on what they teach. Trust your intuition, if it sounds to good to be true, then it probably is!
Let me introduce myself. My name is Bev Langford. I am happily married mother of five great children, I work part time as a retail manager and I am well on the way to becoming a full time Internet Marketer. I am learning the skills needed to become a successful affiliate. For those that don’t know, Affiliate’s sell other peoples products for a commission. You market a product of your choice by promoting it either on you own website or by other means. When someone decides to buy the product you promote, you get paid a commission. Commissions range from 4% to 75% of the total sale price depending on the product you are promoting.
