If you have been around Internet Marketing for a while you will have heard of affiliate article marketing as a great strategy of driving targeted traffic to your blog or website.

If you don’t know about article marketing here’s the simple explanation; affiliates use article marketing because it is  a great way to increase the relevance to their site to the search engines thus improving their rankings. You also have the benefit of using the article directory’s authority online to your own advantage.

One of the most important factors in search engine ranking is having high quality, relevant backlinks pointing back to your site. By submitting articles to article directories or topic specific blogs, with high page ranking, you can easily achieve this. Old teachings, from school ect… teach us to inform the reader or visitor about the author, but we need to ask ourselves, does this serve us or is it a mearly a futile attempt to boost our own ego!

Submitting Your Articles To Blogs.

Another way to increase high quality backlinks is to submit your content to topic specific blogs. What this means is that you find blogs that are in the same niche as you and contact them and ask if they would like you to write content for their blog. The way this works is you write content for them and in your content (blog post) you will include a couple of backlinks to your site. They get free content – you get quality backlinks, it’s a win – win situation.

The problem is that this method can take a lot of time and many emails back and forth. There is minimal control as the webmaster can decide to delete your content any time and in doing so, delete your backlinks. Writing Relevant Article Content.

One vital contributor to wether or not your article will work for you is the content. The content must be either directly relevant to your site or a page on your site. You wouldn’t write an article about boats and then point it back to a site all about dog training.

For example, if you have a website about “dog training” and you have a specific page titled “dog anxiety” then you have two choices. You can write about dog training in general terms and link back to your main site, or you can write an article specifically about dog anxiety and link back directly to your page about dog anxiety.
